For oil clubs and community websites
A free heating oil price box for your website
Show today's heating oil price for your county on your oil club, parish council or village website. It keeps itself up to date. Free, with no sign-up and no cookies.
Three steps
Make your price box
What it shows
Today's price, kept up to date for you
- Where Fueltool has a local price for your county, the box shows the lowest price a litre today, before VAT, for a 1,000 litre delivery, and roughly what 1,000 litres costs with VAT. It is the same figure as your county's page on Fueltool.
- Where we don't have a local price for your county yet, it shows the UK average and says that local prices vary.
- It also shows the UK average, how it has moved since last week, and a small line of the last 90 days.
- It updates by itself. Once it is on your website there is nothing more to do.
Good to know
Before you add it
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no account, no cost and no advert in the box. Fueltool is an independent heating oil price comparison, running since 2011.
The link under the price
It goes to your county's page on Fueltool, where your visitors can check prices for their own postcode. You're welcome to change its words. The box shows the county the link points to, and if your website ever leaves the box out, the link still works on its own.
Your visitors' privacy
The box sets no cookies and doesn't track anyone. To show the price, your visitor's browser fetches today's figure from fueltool.co.uk, the way a page loads a picture from another website. Our server keeps the standard logs every website keeps; our privacy policy has the details.
Will it slow my website down?
No. It loads after the rest of your page, it is small (about 6 KB) and it makes one request for the price.
If your website builder won't take it
In WordPress, use a Custom HTML block, or a Custom HTML widget for a sidebar. In Wix and Google Sites, use their Embed option: the box works, though they put it in a frame of its own. If your builder doesn't allow code at all, a normal link to your county's page on Fueltool does the same job.
For developers
The box is our open price feed and one small script. A county's figures are at /api/v1/price/?county=flintshire, using the name from the county page's address. Everything else is in the API documentation.
